The Travel Bug

My first “real” international trip was back in 2015 to South Africa where I was bit by the travel bug and since then I have prioritized traveling in my life. The excitement of experiencing a different culture or exploring a new place is that “itchy feet” feeling that will keep me traveling for the rest of my life.

Finding a travel buddy can be difficult with everyone running on a different schedule, life getting busy and different budget levels. I came to accept that if I want to visit everywhere on my list, I am going to have to make that happen myself. I began solo traveling in 2018 and was surprised how much I enjoyed the independence and has been my preferred method since.

My style of travel is typically a backpacker staying in hostels with the occasional splurge for a private room or hotel when I need a break from the dorm life. I try to save my money on accommodation because I’m only in my room to sleep and I also search for flight deals to keep that cost down too. By doing this, I can travel fairly cheaply while not hesitating to splurge on experiences throughout my trip which is the reason I am there.

Follow along with my travel stories, experiences, and advice and I hope they inspire your future travels!

Happy Planning,

Rachel
